The Social Library, Volume 1

We’re launching a new weekly feature to help surface some of the amazing work we see coming from libraries we follow on Facebook. We thought it would be a great way to take advantage of the virtual tour we can take, thanks to social media, and to provide you with a weekly travel log of sorts. Here are the exciting things we discovered are happening at five libraries this week:

At the Loveland Public Library in Colorado, patrons can stop by or make an appointment to meet with a Download Coach for help getting ebooks, digital magazines, and more on devices. On the 4th Wednesday of... Read more

Health Happens in Libraries Through Community Engagement

Five U.S. public libraries have recently been selected as participants in the 2015 program activities of Health Happens in Libraries. Staff at these libraries will plan and implement community health activities that will establish or deepen local partnerships to bring meaningful health services to their communities.

Participants were selected from a pool of 74 applications; the five chosen demonstrated dedication to community health, leadership capacity, and commitment to sharing the outcomes of their experience with the field. This webinar coincided with the release of the first of three community health engagement pathways being produced for public libraries as part of the Health Happens in Libraries project. Access the Supporting Healthy Communities through Health Information and Services pathway to... Read more

WebJunction 2015: The Year Past and the Year Ahead

As we turn the page on another year (plus a month), we at WebJunction would like to take an opportunity to share some of our successes in 2014 and some of the things we're looking forward to in 2015.

More than 6,000 library staff attended WebJunction's interactive webinars in 2014. Since we moved our archives into the new WebJunction Catalog, we’ve been incredibly pleased with the response. Over 8,000 library staff have signed up for accounts and among them have completed nearly 5,000 self-paced courses and webinar archives.

While all of our webinars and courses are worth checking out, here... Read more
